About the Event
About the Workshop: Although Schools in India have made the employment of school counsellors mandatory, there are very few educators or even mental health professionals who have a deeper understanding of what school counselling entails. School counsellors have a list of roles and responsibilities that schools usually disregard and generally view counsellors as the teaching faculty. This workshop is designed to help you understand who school counsellors are, the scenario of counselling and mental health in Indian schools and help educators, parents, counsellors and students alike, recognize the importance of mental health counselling in the Indian school scenario.
About the Speaker: Sonia David is a Psychological Counsellor in Schools and has worked as a Psychology Lecturer as well. She is pursuing her Ph.D. in Psychology and specializes in Expressive Arts Techniques. She is a certified Art Therapist and an Acceptance and Commitment Therapist. Her research activities include expressive arts therapies, person-centered and solution-focused therapy. She is also a published author, spoken poet and enjoys solo-traveling
