There are lots of reasons to be happy and sad. It is us who gives power to any situation to be merry about it or not. There are two sides in every situation, one side gives us reason to be happy, and the other takes it. It is us who decides. It’s always our call. There are so many ways to lighten our mood and make the day better by just passing smile to people around us. Bypassing a smile, you will feel good, and the other person will also feel good and will be compelled to think how generous that person is, and he will try to do that to others. Happiness expands by sharing with others.
Life can be a celebration if we start to see it with the right attitude. If we start being ready for the day by, I will see whatever will happen and accept life that way. Half of the everyday stress will vanish. Look at problems like they are your tests. You will be ready to struggle every day and not panic in workable situations. And where there is a will, there is a way!
There are plenty of reasons to be happy about. Why not learn to enjoy the little things; they are so many of them. If we learn this art of enjoying patience, we will see a desirable change in our lives. When we were younger, these little things made us so happy, like they were the only purpose of the day. But with growing with numbers, we start valuing just numbers in life, number of cars we have, digits in our salary, number of international tours we made, and forget about less is more. We forget that law, quality is over quantity. The numbers don’t matter, but the memories we made with the things, time spent with family and friends, the stories we have in our only car, and others. If we start looking for happiness will find it in every nook and corner of the house, in the stories told by grandparents, every photograph we have etc. If we look for them, we will find them, but they won’t stop when we keep running behind our materialistic needs. So, enjoy those little things. One day you will look back and realise they were the big things.
Happiness is always around you. You just have to let it in. Take few steps towards positivity, and it returns in doubles. Start meditating. When you meditate, your mind calms down. You don’t overreact; instead, responds calmly to problems. Try to solve them with a positive attitude. It enhances self-awareness, and one begins to love his/herself. It gives a new perspective to solve complicated issues in life. It makes us tolerant and patient. Helps us in focusing on the present and builds skills to manage stress. It makes us creative and let our inner-self come out in our various daily households. It helps in focusing and enhances our imagination. All these benefits lead to happiness in life.
To be happy, we need to forget many things. We must learn the art of forgetting. The art of letting go of what is not needed and necessary to remember because they hurt us. By letting go of things does not mean we forget them or we escape from them. We neither forget things like that nor can we escape from things. If forgetting was so easy, then everyone on earth would have been happily living their lives. People would have lost their loved ones, lost their favourite stuff or failed in an exam; they would forget everything and then be happy. But it doesn’t work like that. So, we need to learn to filter out things that bother us. Prioritise what is important and whatnot. We can’t let everything hurt us like that. So, this skill of filtering out things will help us in maintaining homeostasis of mind.
Happiness and sadness are emotions that are within our power of choice. The decision is made inside the heart. There are ways we can stay happy. The choice is ours. If we really want to be happy, no one can stop us. A happy life is in the tranquillity of mind. You cannot control circumstances around yourself, but you can definitely control your thoughts. If we think of happy thoughts, we will be happy. Everything you need for a happy life is within yourself.
