Is parenting have various functions and responsibilities?

Different parenting motivations may influence how much an individual becomes involved in the day-to-day activities of raising children. The daily activities were carried out for children to survive and grow. Many of those activities have explored parenting styles in the 21st century. Now let’s put them all together in a more systematic fashion to gain an overall appreciation of what modern parents do for their children. Parenting involves the process of raising children, and it covers a broad range of activities. This consists of five interrelated functions and their corresponding responsibilities.

  • Resource Provision: These include providing the whole spectrum of resources necessary to sustain and maintain a home and family. These include material resources, nutritional resources, utility resources, service resources, community resources, cultural and recreational resources, and communication resources. Parents’ education, occupation, and income much determine their ability to provide these resources and this ability. The ability to provide is more, and there is a more significant opportunity for cultivating the other functions. Where the ability is limited, and there is less opportunity.

  • Caring for the Home: This functioning includes essential home maintenance, clothing maintenance, nutrition maintenance, and other maintenance. Caring for the home also involves the budgeting, management, and investment of the monitory. This includes the day-to-day management of funds, investments, gambling, and giving to charities, causes, and other relief.

  • Protecting the Child: Parents are usually responsible for the protection of their family members and their resources. They are also responsible for protecting and nurturing the family’s overall wellbeing and protecting physical, psychological, spiritual, ethnic, and cultural integrity from threats.

  • Parents protect children from the threats are: Threats of bodily harm, threats of psychological harm, the threat of peer harm

  • Child Guidance: This involves using physical and psychological methods of guiding all the aspects of the child’s development. These include the child’s motor, sensory, perceptual, physical, cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, moral, spiritual, sexual, cultural, educational, and economic development.

    • Physical caregiving refers to feeding children, cleaning and dressing them, attending to their health needs, and administering medical assistance. It also involves taking them to doctors and dentists and attending to their rest and sleep needs.

    • Psychological caregiving consists of nurturing children and providing them with warmth and acceptance, disciplining children and helping them learn the social appropriateness of behaviour, grooming children to make them presentable, and orienting children to appropriate gender functioning. It also involves teaching children about the world, assisting children with their formal education, managing the crises that occur when children are hurt or disruptive, providing information and guidance about sexual functioning and enculturation.

  • Connecting and Advocating: Children, particularly young ones, need to be represented before various groups and institutions because they do not have the status or capabilities to do so themselves. It is an integral part of parenting to connect children to these groups and individuals and advocate on their behalf.

Positive parenting led me to grow in a full-fledged way. It helped me to seek success in my way of life and also improved the quality of life. Real childhood happiness can be brought into the individual child’s life if you handle them in flattering parenting styles and ways.
